Acrylic Paint - First Explosive Painting

Acrylic Paint - Explosive Portrait Painting

I love painting freely. The moment I saw the picture of an explosive painting, I'm in love with it and always wanted to give a try.

I'm not good in portrait sketching. I know I've screwed the portrait much (not gonna tell who I was drawing), but my motive was clear - to paint explosively.

Then I continued choosing colours that does not resembles the original skin colour much.

Looking at my painting below, I have made a first step to be brave in colour selection, but it's not brave enough. Yeah, I guess I'll choose brighter colour in my next painting =)

Acrylic Painting - Insect

Acrylic Painting - Insect

I used the leftover paint for this ->

Acrylic Painting - Tiger

Acrylic Painting - Tiger

I love abstract painting because it gives me a total freedom in my colour selection. I came across many paintings (especially oil painting) that are very explosive or colourful in other words.

(Explosive Painting is something like this)

However, my portrait is not up to standard yet. Thus, I decided to paint an animal instead. I don't know why tiger came across my mind thus I looked for a close up version of tiger over google and started to paint it.

I decided to use orange as a medium colour, peach as lightest, red as darker, dark brown as darkest. However, I decided that painting peach was quite dull therefore I switched to yellow.

It took my entire afternoon nap time to complete it.

Even though it still looks a bit conservative and doesn't reach my expectation for an explosive painting, I'm happy to see the end result and also the experience I've gained in this paint.

Enjoy =)

Acrylic Painting - Nike's shoe

Acrylic Painting - Nike's shoe

My art exercise - to draw an iconic items, where at one glance, people would know what brand it is.

I googled for many branded items i.e Coca-Cola, 7 Up, 100 plus, Nike, Adidas, etc and I have chosen Nike.

To me, Nike is famous for its shoes. I love their shoes' design, it's always so striking and outstanding among other brands. Therefore, I searched for the most beautiful shoes I could find and tata, the below painting ->

Acrylic Painting - Tropical Plants

Acrylic Painting - Tropical Plants

One of the subjects I have to fulfill in my art lesson.

First of all, I had to paint the background with a middle green. Then, slowly grow the trees and plants one by one.

It's not a easy task as before this, I painted exactly according to the picture but this time, I had to crop some of the plants and decide where should I place them.

In terms of colour selection is tough too because I had to segregate the plant/tree's colour with the background colour. In other words, I had to either choose a lighter than background's green or darker.

Well, honestly I don't really enjoy this exercise, but indeed, the skills and knowledge I learnt will benefit in my next painting.

Acrylic Painting - Sultan Abdul Samad Building

Acrylic Painting - Sultan Abdul Samad Building

I have completed basic drawing techniques in MIA & basic colouring skills.

Now, Miss Sia gave us a list of themes that we will be completing throughout our lesson. It includes: Building, Portrait, Abstract, Garden and many more.

Without knowing the difficulties, I've chosen the one I always wanted to master - Building.

The building I picked was - Sultan Abdul Samad Building

(This is not the original picture, was taken from here)

I must say, the picture I chose to paint looks easy but in fact, was a lot more challenging!

Let me tell you why.
First, the picture was taken from bottom,
Secondly, it was taken from the side of building.
Thirdly, it has so many different lines and designs on the building, which is the one that makes it unique.

When it comes to drawing, it has 3 angle to focus at.

To draw this, I had to join all the slanting lines into 3 points at the original picture. Then at my drawing pad, I put 3 dots and draw lines.

It took me 2 hours to complete the drawing. I was damn exhausted after the class.

Well, thanks to Miss Sia, I've managed to complete the art in 3 weeks:

There are leftover paints and I thought it was quite wasted to dump it. So I decided to paint at the other half of page freely:

The amazing effect I created without expectations and intentions:

Enjoy!

1st Acrylic Painting

Started my first lesson of acrylic painting.
We were required to draw and paint the jug & a transparent glass. Both were chosen as mapping is required to draw out the reflection on their surfaces and subsequently paint it.

First week I've done this:

Second week I moved to adding items on same page.

And, tata! There goes my first painting:
